Lent 2013: Day 19 & 20

Lent Day 19:

If it wasn't for Oprah, I wouldn't be trying to be my best self every day.  Plus, she always had a lot of shows about gays and coming out of the closet. It was helpful, to say the least. She also, always reminds me to be honest with myself and not be so hard on me, and come from a place of kindness.

Finding your calling...

What Oprah Knows for Sure About Finding Your Calling
It won't always make you famous or even pay the bills, but your job in life is to discover who you were meant to be. Oprah knows one thing for sure about finding your calling: Sometimes the calling is just a whisper, and when you begin to honor that whisper, you end up being the best you can be.

Lent Day 20:

"Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands...For while we are in this tent, we groan and are burdened, because we do not wish to be unclothed but to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life.  Now the one who has fashioned us for this very purpose is God, who has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come." -- 2 Corinthians 4:16-5:5

We should never stop our work on this world just because we think life eternal will begin once death comes. There's no guarantee.  We need to just keep working to do good things in this world.  This is the reality we are living in.  As difficult this life may be for some, we can only do our best with the body we are given, the life we have, and the calling we decide to follow.
