The POD with both Kayla and my life packed into one little container. Kind of puts your life and your relationship with your stuff in perspective. We won't get to touch it for at least a month or longer. Not until Kayla finds an associate minister position. God willing.

Myself and Kayla looking at the view from our Dover St. apartment in Oakland one last time. It may be a little sad, but we are both trying to be positive and look forward to the adventure that awaits us.
My father has been ill for a couple years now. Both my mom and dad were supposed to come and visit the US for my dad's 70th birthday, but because of his illness he hasn't been well enough to fly. Unfortunately our cross-country American road trip is taking a detour to an island in the South Pacific, specifically we are heading off the the Philippines. We hope to be flying out of San Francisco Sunday (10/04) evening our time and arriving in Dumaguete City Airport Tuesday (10/06) morning their time. Recently the islands in this area have be severely hit by devastating natural disasters. Typhoon in the Philippines, an 8.1 earthquakes/Tsunami in Samoa, and earthquake in Indonesia.
With everything that has been occuring it seems it would not be an ideal time to be traveling to this area. But, as it goes my dad is very sick and this may be one of the only chances Kayla and I will be able to visit my parents together. We don't have jobs or commitments keeping us from traveling except that we don't have jobs and finances are tight at the moment. In addition, these countries are suffering such human loss and physical damage, we fear its not the most ideal time to travel. The unpredictible weather is a factor that may get in the way of us getting to where we need to go. Kayla and I are trying to stay positive and taking just everyday as it comes. I do the best I can and in my heart I know we are doing what we both think is good and right. As long as we have each other, we are going to try to get through this transitional time of our lives. With my family situation, and Kayla's job searching we try to keep our faith strong and have hope in our hearts. God willing.

Kayla and I are leaving tonight from SFO hopefully landing in the Philippines on Tuesday (10/06) morning. We went to Kayla's church (Skyline Community Church in Oakland) that she was a Minister-in-Training at -- last year -- for worship today. Anyhoo, there was a "unison prayer" that I thought was appropriate for our current life transitional situation. This also goes for everyone in the world who may be affected by the current economy, natural disaster, or health insurance (or lack there of) situation. Love can be divine as long as we are open to receiving and giving without expectation. We can do wonderful things, get through difficult times, and overcome any obstacle as long as we do it all with divine love in our hearts. We love you all and know and believe in our hearts that all will be fine and wonderful as we travel half way around the world in uncertain times and uncertain weather. Hold us in your hearts and prayers and wish for safe passage and a swift return. With love and light blessings to all my beautiful friends and family. Till we meet again.
