week 3:5 miles - a breeze, week 4:6 miles - i would love to run another mile, week 5:7 miles - i was ready to curl up in a ball and cry uncle.
for some reason unbeknownest to me, the running coach thought it would be great conditioning if we ran our asses all over the hills of san francisco. the first 2 hills i could sort of live with, the next 3 hills we had to run up, i felt as if i was running in place. i think the reason it sucked so badly is because i didn't do my 2 maintenance runs for the week. i have a good excuse; i was helping kayla drive vans around for her R2W camp she was doing the logistic coordination for - this whole past week.
i paid for it, and the last 2 miles was a horrible reminder of it. i wasn't running anymore, i think i was barely picking up my feet, i was propelled forward by sheer hope and steam. but, we did it, my pace group and myself finished in 1 hour and 52 minutes within our time and even including 1 bathroom break. yay! i went to bed early that night at 9:30 pm. at the same time it was also the last day of the R2W leadership camp.
i'm going camping this weekend so i have to run my 8 miles on my own, without the support of my pace group. for sure i'll do my maintenance runs and i'll also do some cross-training, but this time around i'll make sure i won't run any big hills. sorry i haven't been able to post as frequently, but these past couple weeks have been busy with summer classes, work and helping with R2W and Kayla. I'm getting into higher mileage and my schedule is calming down a little. i should be able to stay more on top of updates. cross your fingers for, i'm only going further from this point, further than i've ever gone before.
